Unlocking the creative spirit of children is what Transitions feels strongly about.   One a day-to-day basis we work with our clients to achieve this vision.  Our strap line is ‘Unlocking entrepreneurial vision to turn vision into reality’ so this project fits very comfortably with our vision.  We have an opportunity to put something back in to the community with our friends and colleagues by supporting the remarkable First Lego League.

This programme recognises the need to re-establish science and technology as an exciting subject in schools.   Sponsorship will enable more children to discover a potential in themselves they didn’t know they had!  First Lego League is something that all children can participate in and benefit from – including children with special educational needs.  The challenge requires the children to work in many aspects of the curriculum – not just science and technology – but it also introduces them to several, invaluable life skills such as team working and respect for others, presentation and communication skills. Skills and values equally important in the world of work.

We are seeking twenty schools in the region to put forward a team of 7-10 school children aged 10-16 years who will be tasked with creating a robot to take on the challenge and find ways to help people with different levels of physical ability.

The Cambridge Regional Heat will take place on 20 November 2004 at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Hills Road, Cambridge.

If you are a school which would like to take part or a sponsor that would like to get involved in mentoring and inspiring a school please contact Gill Ellis at Transitions on 0870 990 6003 or gill@transitions.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you.
