“Tristart” a web-based tool to enhance the assessment of success in start-ups
Each year in the UK some 250,000 entrepreneurs approach Enterprise Agencies, Business Links, banks and early stage investors for advice and funding. These all require evaluation of their likely success or failure, the issues they face and the support they require. This is a huge workload that is at best uncertain and costly.
Recognising this major challenge and market opportunity Transitions establishes a joint venture, TRISTART™, in 1999 with two other organisations, JCL Ltd and Probit Research, thus creating a team with the highest calibre expertise and knowledge required. In 2004 Tristart obtained seed corn funding of £100,000 and is now in negotiation to raise the next funding round that will enable Tristart™ to reach its global markets.
The Trisart™ team is delighted to have been invited to present a paper at the ISBE National Conference (Institute for Small Business & Entrepreneurship), Illuminating Entrepreneurship, to be held on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd November in Blackpool. This is a national and international forum for exchanging views and experiences between educators, policy makers, researchers and support agencies.

Enterprise Teaching in Schools
The Transitions team has taken an active interest in the teaching of enterprise in schools since the publication of the Howard Davies Report. The foundation of this interest is a belief that so much of what Transitions already do is relevant to what the government aspires to achieve in schools. Every Key Stage Four pupil in England now has an entitlement to five days of enterprise education.
