Business Modelling Strategy and Planning

Early stage companies often have "incomplete" yet exciting ideas about Vision, Mission, Purpose, Values and about how to develop intellectual capital into a vehicle and plan which potential customers, investors, employees and suppliers can recognise and relate to. Many man years of experience within the Transitions team and established methodologies enable a customized and empathetic approach to working with the early stage team to develop all aspects of the Business Model, the Business Plan and to work onwards into implementation where appropriate.

Organisation Development - Team Building

Examining the most appropriate management team in young companies is a critical matter. Often companies "come together" and recruitment can be ad hoc and unplanned. Through skills related to industrial psychology, years of experience in building teams, the Transition approach is highly customized and seeks to match the skills of the very early members of a team - founders - with other absent skills and experience to fill gaps and create balance. Planning organisational development can follow an analysis of the skills and aptitudes of founders and early recruits, and as the team forms and the company grows, coherence and interactive skills can be developed and optimised. Entrepreneurship and Leadership - and the best practice approaches to harnessing these skills within a developing organisation are dealt with through involvement of members of the Transitions team on the ground, in real life business situations - in real time. "Virtual Board"

In circumstances wherein two or three founders struggle to get a company going Transitions Partners are able to form a "Virtual Board" - for an interim period - providing a Non-Executive Chairman and other Board positions to work with busy founder-managers to ensure strategy and direction are handled through the ongoing leadership of a Board structured to ensure proper corporate governance as well as best practice management.

Interim Management

Transitions can provide, through the work of its own Partners, and drawing from a panel of associates, interim management to early stage companies. This can be from Chairman and Chief Executive, through all functional specialties. The Transitions approach, with "Virtual Board", business planning, mentoring and organisation building - makes for coherence and enables the streaming of services from one mode to another as a young company develops.

Mentoring and Management Training

The wealth of practical experience within the Transitions team and associates, offers a broad range of options for mentoring of founders and founder-managers/managers in early stage, growth focussed companies, especially where strong innovative and entrepreneurial elements are in play. Amongst the Transitions team, experience of a wide variety of business and management training resides - and can be applied to the needs of individuals and teams. Boards, directors, functional heads can be mentored; Transitions enabling approach is particularly appropriate to very early stage companies operating in the technology space from Incubators.

Preparing for Early Stage Funding and Fund Raising

Workshops on understanding funding needs and how the various investment communities work can be delivered to company directors/founders and/or on an individual basis. The workshop series "Funding Tomorrow's Businesses" can be tailored to the stage and scale of any company's fund raising aspirations. Focus of the workshops, which can be extended to mentoring / coaching is on developing plans, approaches and materials which enable the company team to present the Business Model and Plan in the language the investors best understand, and to ensure the company undertakes appropriate research to select the investor groups most likely to show interest.

Following workshop exposure, an individual service of introductions to specific investors can also be undertaken. Transitions Partners are skilled and practiced in Venture Capital and Angel Investing and extremely well connected with many investor groups around the world.
